JULIAN BURGUEÑO

Julian Burgueno is a Oaxacan born photographer documenting youth culture across Southwest Mexico and Los Angeles. His unflinching portraiture style is shaped by his involvement in mutual aid for marginalized communities, and a childhood of documenting his friends in the skateboarding struggling with addiction.  His focus is to create work by normalizing diversity and the myriad of narratives of the marginalized and BIPOC communities. He seeks to deviate from saccharine narratives that blur out the discomfort of reality while surrendering to its beauty.
